Cross River Police Parade Suspects For Various Crimes

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested and paraded several youths for various offences ranging from rape, to armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and others.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa who paraded the suspects at the state’s CID in Calabar, told journalists that among them was one Effiong Edet Eyo who had been on the police wanted list since 2016 for the murder of one Ekerette Dick, a sergeant attached to the 11 police Mobile Squadron, Calabar.

Also paraded were two suspects on grounds of suspicion for conspiracy and rape of a young girl whose drink was drugged before forcefully being raped.

Inuwa noted that all the suspects will be charged to court.

On the other hand, a Lawyer, Leonard Anyogo, is advocating for the protection of crime victims especially in regards to rape and defilement, in order for them to willingly witness in courts to allow for speedy dispensation of Justice.

“I advocate that Crime victims be provided adequate security of their lives by relevant agencies to allow them freely appear and witness in courts to aid quick dispensation of Justice rather than, continuous adjournment,” he said.
