In a video on Instagram titled “A Special Valentine’s Day Message From John Mayer,” he offered these simple directions: “If you have an Instagram crush, tag them in the captions below.” He added, “If you are an Instagram crush that has been tagged in the captions below, this song is for you.” Since Mayer has 1.8 million Instagram followers, hopefully lots of love is spread today in his comments section.
The lyrics may be simple, but they’ll do. In his lilting, sultry voice, he sings, “Somebody’s stalking you / Somebody wants to talk to you / Somebody wants to take a walk with you / Somebody wants for you to follow them too / So, you got a crush, ain’t it nice to know? / So, you got a crush, ain’t it nice to know?”
The video serves not only to entertain his audience on the most romantic holiday of the year but also to help promote his new 2017 world tour, “The Search for Everything.”
This isn’t the first Instagram post Mayer has created to promote his world tour. He recently posted an odd throwback video in an attempt to convince fans that missing out on this tour would be something they would regret.
